Breach
破防pòfáng
The state of a fighter whose Sha-Chi gauge has run dry: guard broken and wide open to punishment, bosses included. Chinese coverage calls it 破防 (the English menu term is unconfirmed); pressing Triangle as a boss breaks dashes Soul in for a follow-up.
What the name means

The real culture behind it
Chinese martial arts call a fighter’s guard his 门户, his “door”, and an opening is a 空门, an “empty door”. A broken guard leaves the door wide open (门户大开), and the Art of War says to strike exactly there: “attack where he is unprepared, appear where he does not expect you” (攻其无备,出其不意).
破防 itself began as gaming jargon for a guard that collapses after absorbing too much punishment, then escaped into everyday Chinese for any emotional defence that gives way, from being moved to tears to being stung by an insult. The language magazine Yaowen Jiaozi named it one of the ten buzzwords of 2021. Chinese players will hear both senses at once.
