Sha-Chi Tower

杀气塔Shāqì Tǎ

Name via press

A cloud-piercing tower in Chinese previews, where Chinese pavilions are fused with steel frames, chimneys and boilers (A9VG; gcores). The State of Play narration shows “a steam-powered iron tower built for some kind of dark experiment”, which Chinese coverage calls 钢铁巨塔; whether the two are one structure is unconfirmed, and “Sha-Chi Tower” is our rendering.

What the name means

CharacterPinyinMeaning
杀shāto kill

塔tǎpagoda, tower (from Sanskrit stūpa)

The real culture behind it

塔 is a word Buddhism brought to China: it renders the Sanskrit stūpa, a relic mound, which Chinese builders stretched upward into the many-storeyed pagoda — the timber pagoda at Yingxian, built in 1056, still stands about 67 metres tall. 杀气, killing intent, is the life force that governs martial arts in the game and the fuel of its forbidden Transcension.

Pavilions bolted to boilers are kungfupunk in one image. S-GAME scouted old steel factories in Beijing alongside Fujian ancestral halls and Zhejiang towns, and staged its 2025 S-Party at the Shougang steelworks under the No. 3 blast furnace. One reading, ours: a pagoda, built to hold relics, rebuilt as a machine for concentrating killing intent turns the sacred tower inside out.
