The real culture behind it
阵 is the battle array. Chinese military writing is full of formations, and Zhuge Liang’s legendary Eight-Array Diagram (八阵图) was famous enough for Du Fu to write that “his name was made by the Eight Arrays” (名成八阵图). To charge into the enemy line is 冲锋陷阵; to enter the array, 入阵, is the first step of any battle.
In wuxia, a 阵 is also a formation of fighters, which the game puts on screen in the Seven Stars sword array (七星剑阵). Read together, the three standard difficulties climb a ladder: you enter the formation (入阵者), break the deadlock (破局者), then defy heaven (逆天者). The progression is our reading; the English “Wayfarer” keeps only the idea of a traveller setting out.
