Reforging Talisman
逆炼符nìliàn fú
The item that resets a weapon’s upgrades and refunds everything invested in it. Respecs are free before character level 10; after that each one needs a Reforging Talisman, according to Chinese hands-on reports.
What the name means
| Character | Pinyin | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| 逆 | nì | reverse, go against |
| 炼 | liàn | refine, smelt, forge |
| 符 | fú | talisman; tally |
The real culture behind it
炼 belongs to two worlds: the smithy, where steel was folded and refined until it became “hundred-times-refined steel” (百炼钢), and the alchemist’s furnace (炼丹). 逆, going against the flow, is a master key of Daoist inner alchemy, whose adepts try to reverse the ordinary course of life instead of spending it. A “reverse-refining” charm that unmakes an upgraded weapon borrows from both worlds; that reading is ours.
符 began as a tally: a token split in two, each half held by one party and matched to prove authority, like the bronze tiger tallies (虎符) that let generals move troops. Daoism turned it into the 符箓, a talisman of stylised script brushed in cinnabar on yellow paper to command spirits. Here the talisman commands your upgrades.
