Phantom Edges
影之武装yǐng zhī wǔzhuāng
Soul’s two secondary weapons, carried beside two primary blades and “less conventional in approach”, in S-GAME’s words: axes, cannons, bows, a chain sickle. Counts range from about 20 to 25; charges refill at bells, and some open new paths.

| 影 | yǐng | shadow, phantom |

| 奇诡 | qíguǐ | strange and uncanny (Steam’s alternative name, 奇诡武装) |
The real culture behind it
Two characters carry the name. 影, shadow or phantom, is the 影 of the game’s own title, 影之刃, “blade of shadow”. 奇, from Steam’s alternative 奇诡武装, is a word Chinese strategy has prized for some 2,500 years: the Art of War says that in battle you “engage with the orthodox and win with the unorthodox” (以正合,以奇胜).
Chinese martial arts draw the same line. Beside the standard “eighteen weapons” (十八般兵器) of storytelling stand the 奇门兵器, “unorthodox weapons”, and Chinese coverage lists 奇门 as one of the Phantom Edge categories. Read that way, two primaries are Soul’s orthodox hand and two Phantom Edges his surprise; Liang himself called the pairing “a combination of tradition and imagination”. The Sunzi reading is ours.
